Fix Basic Tech Issues with Computer Help
Use this handy tool, developed by our KSD TSS team, to check on the health of your device and correct simple problems.
On the desktop of all KSD devices you should find a shortcut for the Computer Help app. The tool was built specifically for KSD devices to help reduce the need for outside help in resolving routine issues experienced on district devices.
Upon opening the app, staff and students are presented with some basic information about the computer as well as a colored indicator to quickly assess the status of the computer.
Jumping to the Health tab, you'll find more colored indicators to show the current state of each of the listed items. If any of the indicators are not green, you will be presented with a button which you can use to make the appropriate correction to resolve the issue.
In the Tools tab, you'll find a multitude of buttons which can be used to fix a variety of possible issues. If you are experiencing a specific problem with your computer, click through and read the brief descriptions to see if there is a fix to your issue.
Use the Links tab to find a list of potentially helpful links used in KSD.

Customizing Your Mouse Pointer Size and Color
Are you tired of the boring white mouse pointer? Do you sometimes have trouble seeing the standard size mouse cursor on your screen? Here is how to get to the mouse size settings and how to change your pointer’s size and color in Windows.
In the search bar type pointer to locate and open the Change Mouse Pointer Color settings.
Once you've opened the mouse settings you can drag to adjust the size of your pointer. You also have different options for your mouse pointer style;
White
Black
Inverted
Custom
The first two options are white with a black border (which is the default) and black with a white border.
The third option, shown as black on a white background and white on a black background, has an inversion effect, making your mouse pointer always visible, by changing it to a color complementary to the color you’re hovering over. This does not just happen for black and white: hovering with your pointer on a blue background makes it turn orange, a red background turns it cyan, and so on.
The last mouse pointer style allows you to customize the color of your pointer. Clicking on it reveals a rainbow of recommended pointer colors you can choose from. If you like a color from the list, click or tap on it. If you have a different color in mind, click or tap the plus button under the recommended colors. In the new color selection window that pops up, choose any color you like from the whole RGB spectrum. You have absolute freedom in your choice, and a slider at the bottom helps you fine-tune the color you choose.

Customizing Your Notifications in Teams
Missed an important message in Teams or didn’t realize someone had sent you a chat. Microsoft Teams allows you to customize your notification settings.
Notification settings are located under Microsoft Teams Settings. To access notification settings click the 3 dots next to Kent School District in the top right corner of teams, then Settings > Notifications.
There are three ways to get notified in Teams.
The activity feed
You’ll find this in the top left corner of Teams. This is where Teams will let you know what’s happening across your teams and channels.
Then there’s chat
This is where your group and one-on-one conversations happen. As you receive multiple messages, Teams will keep a count of them for you.
Desktop—aka “Banner”—notifications
On Windows, these will show in the bottom right corner of your screen, then move to the Action Center.
You can also decide whether your desktop notifications show a preview of the message or not. Go to Settings > Notifications > Show message preview.
When you get added to a team, we’ll automatically show the three most active channels in that team. These channels will send you notifications when someone @mentions the channel. To also get notified for all new conversations and replies, select More options … > Channel notifications, or go to notification settings, and under Shown channels select Edit.
